January 2004, Yangon, Myanmar Dr. Myo Min, a professor of otolaryngology in Yangon, made a request to Dr. Robert Johnson of San Francisco, also an ear, nose and throat specialist, for used ENT surgical instruments. Dr Johnson was invited to participate in an international medical lecture conference in January focusing on sinus problems and treatments. Dr. Robert Johnson hand-carried 25 surgical instruments to Yangon to Dr. Min, who had sent a customs agent to the airport to meet him in case of problems on entry. They were gratefully received along with a selection of medicines specific for the treatment of otolaryngologic problems.
